If you have never seen an anime movie, you don’t know how much you are missing out on. Anime videos are truly different than American animation movies. The style is different, the subject matter is different, and the target audience is different. Most American animation, such as Disney movies, is targeted towards children. An anime video, by contrast, is often targeted towards adults. They often have dark, fantastic themes. They borrow heavily from Japanese mythology. They are absolutely fascinating!

If you’ve never seen Japanese animation movies before, I suggest that you start with the films of Miyazaki. He has made many famous movies, including Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and others that have penetrated into American culture. His most famous, at least in America, is Princess Mononoke. It is an anime movie about an ancient war between nature and mankind. The animals are angry because a human settlement has invaded their forest. The humans are busy mining and destroying the forest, and the animals soon rebel because of the damage that is being done. At the center of this anime video are two humans who are caught in the middle between the two warring sides.

The most memorable thing about Princess Mononoke is the forest god. It is one of the most fantastic creatures that I have ever seen in an anime video. It looks kind of like an elk with many horns growing out of its head, but with an oddly human face. It is hard to forget!

There are many genres of anime videos, so there is something for every taste. For example, wars between giant robots are a very big thing in Japanese animation. Most people either love or hate this kind of anime video. There are few people who are in between. Another popular theme in anime videos is mythology, particularly that featuring spirits of the natural world. Almost every anime video of this type seems to feature the conflict between man and nature and the ensuing loss of the natural world as a theme, but this is not always the case. Just because an anime video explores the world of spirits does not believe that these spirits are at odds with the humans. In the anime video My Neighbor Totoro, for example, almost all of the spirits are friendly. They get along with the humans well, and even help them out whenever they get the chance.
